Hi
If you are searching for a suitable venue, I can recommend LOOM - It is centrally located just north of Oxford Street. It is never busy during the week, in other words you can always get a seat. Often you would have the place entirely to yourself. The owner, Haitham (pronounced Hay-sham) is a big Meetup fan: He is a member of, and even sponsors, about 6 Meetup groups. Tables can be set out as you require them - The venue is air-conditioned - You have complete control over the lighting and volume of the background music. There is a large screen TV / DVD which comes in handy with some groups. You even get complimentary nibbles / candles on your table (s) There is a range of cheap and not so cheap bar snacks for those coming from work. It's an 8 minute walk from Great Portland Street, 10 minutes from Oxford Circus. If driving, you can always park outside the door, after 18.30pm. The venue already hosts 9 other Meetups - including London's largest, Spanish Meetup - Hence is already well-known and liked in the Meetup community. Any downsides - Well, yes, a few - There is no disabled access or toilets. They only sell a range of bottled beers, no draught. My connection with LOOM - I am a friend of the owner - I host Danish Meetup there every month, I designed their website. Give it a try - You could do a lot worse, believe me ! http://www.loombar.co... Regards Mike Starr PS - It is free to hire the bar for a evening. 020-8594 1320 / 2150 07967 044282 |

Yes, I have been to LOOM a few times and would not mind if the meetings were held there.
At least you don't have to shout to make yourself heard Marcus |
